Hurricane Cactus / Lepismium cruciforme rojo

OVERVIEW

A marvellously colourful and exotic hanging cactus specimen, with vibrant pink ends to the trailing leaves.
This epiphytic cactus will cope in a broad range of conditions, but to bring out the attractive magenta highlights (anthocyanin) it's best to keep it in a sunny spot out of direct sunshine.
Truly one of our favourite plants here at the studio, owing to the fact it looks so unusual.

LIGHT

Highly versatile, it will cope anywhere out of either extreme of dark and light.

TEMPERATURE

Not sensitive to cold, but will thrive best when kept in warm conditions out of high humidity.

WATER

Despite being a cactus, it's relatively thirsty. It will still need to dry out completely before being soaked though.

FOOD

A cactus food once a month during summer.

TIPS

Unlike many other house plants, high humidity will do more harm than good with this plant. Avoid bathrooms and steamy kitchens.

PETS

Toxic to pets.
